SERIES OF TRAINING SESSIONS HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED AT ATMU WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF EQAC PROJECT

A number of training sessions completed at the Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University (AUTM) within the framework of the Erasmus + project “Establishment and Development of Quality Assurance Centers at Azerbaijan Universities, EQAC”, delegated by the European Commission. The main purpose of the training was insight echange on the development of a new curriculum for the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, as well as to disseminate the information about the innovations that will be introduced as a result of this project to the administrative and academic staff, as well as students of AUTM. 

In order to introduce a modern curriculum, a commission was created. The comission was represented by members of the project team, as well as Mr. Bahadur Bilalov, dean of the Tourism and Hospitality Faculty, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Hafiz Huseynov, head of the Tourism Business Department, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Novruz Guliyev, head of the Hotel and Restaurant Business Department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Nasirullah Nasirli, head of the Science and Innovations Department, Ruslan Guliyev, director of "Millenium Tourism & Kongress" and Hashim Hajiyev the second-year student at AUTM majoring in Tourism and Hospitality.

On December 11, 2019, the head of the Educational Department Mr. Simnar Mammadov acquainted the members of the commission with recommendations on developing a new curriculum and syllabus in accordance with ESG standards, including the rules for monitoring subjects and teachers.

On December 12, 2019, a group of students of ATMU took part in the training facilitated by Ms. Faina Gachabayova, head of the Scientific Innovations unit, and Mrs. Saida Mammadova, deputy head of the Career and Communications Department. During the training, discussions were held on the role of students in ensuring the quality of education throughout their studies at the university. In addition to introducing students to modern teaching methods, the opinions of the participants were taken into account. Trainers emphasized the importance of students` participation in surveys and encouraged students to be actively engaged in surveys conducted at the university.

On December 14, 2019, as part of a training for a pilot group of 10 teachers, the rector`s advisor Mr. Elvin Yusifli and the rector`s assistant Mr. Samir Maharramov presented the importance of switching to a student-centered methodology, introduced modern teaching methods to participants, ESG standards, learning outcomes and Bloom's taxonomy. Under the guidance of instructors, teachers completed assignments for compiling new syllabus.

Thus, the new approaches learnt in the framework of EQAC project, as well as the practice of the Leicester University, were brought to the attention of employees and students of ATMU.
